Our Goals & Beliefs
Our goal is to promote within each child a strong sense of the following traits:
- Self-esteem, self-respect, and self-worthiness
- Confidence in one’s own ability to think
- Confidence in one’s own ability to face daily challenges and changes in life
- Personal autonomy and independence of one’s own ability to make choices (safely and respectfully)
- Appreciation and understanding of diversity
- Self-control based on one’s own desire to learn
- Openness, honesty, and trust
- Humor – An ability to enjoy, relax, have fun, and be happy
- Desire to be innovative
- A sense of belonging, being visible, being heard and understood, both emotionally and intellectually
- Capability – A sense of believing in one’s own potential and always striving to master challenging activities
- Autonomous thinking – Wanting to find answers to one’s own questions, not just the questions a teacher asks
- Independence – Independent thinking, wanting to learn how to learn
- Self-assertiveness – Feeling safe and competent to express one’s own thoughts, needs, and wants
- Communication – An ability to be sensitive to and get along with and communicate openly
We Believe That:
- A child’s creative play is a necessary precursor for knowledge
- A child’s mind is qualitatively different from an adult’s
- A child passes through stages of development in all areas and age ranges
- All experiences can be welcome opportunities for learning
- Each child must be given every opportunity to figure out their own way of doing things, their own way of experimenting
- Logical classification, serration, and comparisons are major foundations of intellectual development
